TSC Announces Massive Vacancies For Job Recruitment In Primary and Secondary Schools
The Teachers service commission TSC has announced job vacancies in both primary and secondary schools. Through an advertisement in MyGov and shared in social media on Tuesday, the teachers service Commission TSC announced the recruitment of 5000 teachers to fill vacancies in both primary and secondary schools.
Of the 5000 vacancies, 4,000 teachers will be recruited to serve in Secondary schools while 1000 teachers will serve in Primary schools. Both positions are on permanent and pensionable plans- TSC has announced.
TSC said the new post will support the 100% transition from primary to secondary schools.
The commission has also advertised 5474 vacancies for primary and 1100 posts for secondary school teachers to replace teachers who exited service. frustrating
Apart from the two announcements TSC has as well announced promotional vacancies dubbed –Promotion and deployment of practicing teachers in primary school s. The promotion with 1000 posts will see successful candidates under this category appointed to T-scale 7, Grade C2 under the Career Progression Guidelines for teachers and shall be deployed to secondary schools where the vacancies exist.
However for an individual to qualify for the promotion, one will need to be a holder of a P1 Certificate, one will also need to be a holder of Bachelor’s Degree in education with two teaching subjects.
It is also a requirement for one to must have attained at least C+ mean grade KCSE or its equivalent and C+ or its equivalent in the two teaching subjects. It is also mandatory for one to be currently serving under TSC.
New Application Guidelines
For the application process, TSC has issued new application guidelines, unlike in previous cases where application was done manually in sub county education offices, one will have to apply online through the TSC portal.
Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the commission’s website not later than September 14, 2020.
Minimum Requirements
For recruitment in the secondary school post, one must be Kenyan citizen, have at least a diploma in education, and must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.
On the other hand applicants for the primary post must meet the following minimum requirements;
- Be a Kenyan Citizen
- Must be a holder of a P1 certificate for primary and at least Diploma for secondary
- Be a registered teacher with TSC
TSC has also stated that to qualify for appointment on a permanent and pensionable terms of service, a candidate should be eligible to serve for a minimum period of ten years, effective from the date of appointment as required by the law.
TSC has also hinted that preference will be given to applicants who have not previously been employed by the Teachers Service Commission
