Teachers On Internship Program To Be Given High Preference In 11,500 TSC Vacancies

The teachers service Commission has issued employment on the 11,500 teaching vacancies that were recently announced. According to the new employment guidelines Teachers who are serving under the internship program will receive additional 10 points as per the score guidelines seen by Daily Press
Other categories of teachers who will be given high preference during the recruitment process are teachers with special needs. The teachers service commission while advertising the vacancies had encouraged teachers with disabilities to apply for the vacancies.
According to the Panel Score sheet for primary employment seen by Daily Press professional P1 teachers who scored between 6-14 points in their Primary Teaching Examinations (PTE) will be awarded 40 points, trained teachers who left college in 2012 an before will be awarded 50 points while those who are currently serving under the internship service will be awarded 10 additional points.
Earlier this year TSC employed a number of teachers to serve under the internship program in both primary and secondary schools. Under the program, teachers in primary schools were being paid Sh.10,000 per month while their counterparts in secondary schools were receiving Sh.15,000.
On Tuesday, TSC announced over 11,000 posts to be filled.
Of the total number 5,000 employment posts are up for grabs under which 4000 will be employed in secondary schools while 1000 will be employed in primary schools.
TSC also announced 5474 replacement posts in primary schools and 1100 posts in secondary schools.
Additionally 1000 primary teachers are set to be promoted.
This announcement comes at a time Education CS Prof. George Magoha hinted of a possible early schools reopening following flattening in the curve of Covid-19 cases.
