In a heartfelt tribute, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has mourned the passing of Agnes Muthoni Kinyua, also known as Major Gachefu, a revered freedom fighter and prominent member of the Kenya Land and Freedom Army (KLFA), who fought in the Mau Mau resistance against British colonial rule.In a statement issued earlier today, Gachagua expressed his deep sorrow at the death of Major Gachefu, the wife of the late General Bahati and a key figure in the struggle for Kenya’s independence. She was a true patriot and a heroine of our liberation struggle,” said Gachagua. “As a member of the Heka Heka Battalion under the command of the legendary Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi, Major Gachefu fought fiercely against the British colonial forces in the Aberdare forest.
