  • Former Prime Minister tells Ruto that he belongs to the deep state
  • Mr.Fred Athuok was sworn in as the new chairman of the disciplinary committee replacing Professor Ben Sihanya while Catherine Muma took over from nominated senator Judith Pareno as the chairperson of the National Elections Board.

The ODM party leader Raila Odinga responded to Ruto’s claims about the deep state. The statement comes barely a few days after the deputy president William Ruto claims of not being shaken by the deep state and is ready to vie for the presidential seat come 2022.
Speaking about the matter at the Chungwa house, Raila said that the Ruto is aware of the deep state.
In Ruto’s statement claiming the deep state is a determinant on the presidential succession in 2022, Raila says that the DP belongs to the central part of the power in the country.
“We have the president whose name you know, and also whose name you know. So when you are talking about the deep state, then who is there? It is the president and his deputy,” Raila said.
Raila said that he is not aware of any other deep state that the DP is talking about other than for the present top leadership in the country which makes Ruto to have the correct answer about what he was referring to.
On the issue of BBI, Raila said that the referendum should be done before the 2022 general elections and that the government is hot to claim that there is no money. Further, Raila said that the BBI is to make the elections free and fair and that Kenyans should not be denied the change.
“The BBI is meant to ensure that there is no bloodshed because of an election,” said Odinga.
