Mumetet Primary Class of 1997-2007 Reunites to Honor Teacher and Celebrate Successes
By Wasike Elvis In a heartwarming display of gratitude and nostalgia, the alumni of Mumetet Primary School, Class of 1997-2007, gathered today to honor their former teacher, Mr. John Chelashaw, a man who had a lasting impact on their lives. The reunion, which brought together a vibrant group of former students, was a celebration of both cherished memories and individual successes.
The event was held at Mr. Chelashaw’s residence, where the alumni reminisced about their time in school under his guidance. Many reflected on the remarkable four years he spent as their class teacher, a period during which he taught English and Christian Religious Education (CRE) to his students. For some, those years were transformative, and today they credit him with shaping their futures.
“We all have a story to tell,” one alumnus shared. “But for most of us, Mr. Chelashaw was not just a teacher, he was a mentor who gave us the foundation for the lives we lead today.” The alumni laughed and shared dramatic stories from their school days, from humorous moments in the classroom to unforgettable school events.
The reunion was filled with songs, dances, and joyful celebrations. The attendees, who have since become lawyers, politicians, nurses, teachers, successful businesspeople, tech specialists, men in uniform, hustlers, and clergy, expressed immense gratitude for their teacher’s influence on their lives.
“Seeing so many of my classmates doing well in life is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teachers,” another alumni remarked. “Mr. Chelashaw played a key role in this, and today we are all better people because of him.”
As the alumni sang and danced, there was a collective sense of accomplishment and unity. In addition to celebrating those present, the group also recognized the efforts and success of those who could not attend, including those living abroad. Their continued success, despite the distance, was a proud reminder of how far the class has come.
“Today is about appreciating where we are and how much we’ve grown,” said one alumnus. “We thank God for the journey, and we are grateful for the memories.”
The reunion also served as a reminder of the importance of community and the enduring connections forged during their school years. Mr. Chelashaw was clearly touched by the turnout and the expressions of gratitude from his former students.
“I never thought this day would come, but it’s a blessing to see you all doing well,” he said emotionally, as the alumni showed their appreciation with heartfelt prayers.
As the day came to an end, the alumni bid their goodbyes, knowing they had made new memories to cherish for years to come.
“To all who made this reunion a success, Asanteni Saana!” one of the organizers concluded, their words echoing the collective gratitude of the entire class. Read More
