Mortuary Attendant Arrested For Switching Bodies In A Revenge Mission
A mortuary attended at Iten referral hospital in Elgeyo Marakwet county has been arrested for intentionally switching bodies while on a revenge mission.
The attendant, Benson Kagari is said to have switched the name tag of a female body with a male body resulting in a family picking a body of a wrong Kin at the hospital.
The arrest came just days after the hospital reported that an unidentified man had sneaked into the funeral home section. The police arrested the suspect who was identified as Benson Kagari, a former employee at the hospital. The hospital stated that Kagari had been fired some days ago over disciplinary issues.
Health County Executive Committee chair Issa Kamar confirmed the incident and said that the confusion was brought about by Kagari who had switched name tags to sabotage the hospital after he was fired.

‘We have enhanced security at the facility and also take this opportunity to report that Benson Kagari is no longer working at Iten Referral Hospital Funeral Home. He is therefore not authorised to transact any business on behalf of the hospital,” Kamar said.
Police officers at Iten stated that a family had lost a male member of the family, but were shocked to find a female body instead.
The suspect is currently being held at Iten police station as police carry on with investigations.
