Governor Rotich Joins PS Chris Kiptoo in Distributing Improved Dairy Cows, Pays Tribute to Retired Major Geoffrey Kipkosgei Chemaoi

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich today participated in the distribution of improved dairy cows to farmers in Kaptarakwa Ward, an initiative aimed at boosting local livelihoods and supporting environmental conservation. The event, which took place at Kiptulos Secondary School, was led by National Treasury Principal Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo, and was attended by several local leaders, including Senator William Kisang, Keiyo South MP Gideon Kimaiyo, and area MCA Mathew Cheruiyot.
Governor Rotich emphasized that the distribution of the improved dairy cows was part of a broader strategy to enhance agricultural productivity and economic empowerment within the region. “This program is an essential step towards improving the livelihoods of our farmers while also promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The introduction of high-yielding dairy cows will not only increase milk production but also contribute to environmental conservation efforts,” Governor Rotich stated.
He further highlighted that the initiative aligns with the county’s vision of supporting sustainable farming and rural development. “We believe that by empowering our farmers with modern agricultural technologies, we can create a more prosperous and self-reliant community. The project is a testament to our commitment to improving food security and creating jobs within the agricultural sector.”
Later in the day, Governor Rotich attended the send-off ceremony of Retired Major Geoffrey Kipkosgei Chemaoi, held at Naiberi, where he extended his condolences to the family and friends of the late Major. Major Kipkosgei, who passed away recently, was remembered as a positive influence and a source of inspiration to many in the community.
