Eluid Kipchoge Backs Ambassador Amina For WTO Seat
Word marathon Champion Eluid Kipchoge has through his weight behind Ambassador Amina Mohammed in her bid to get elected at the world trade organization.
The endorsement comes just a day after Kipchoge jetted out of the country in his bid to cement is authority and championship as the greatest marathoner of all times.
In his endorsement, Kipchoge said that Sports CS Ambassador Amina has demonstrated the power to excel even in the toughest conditions.
“I see in her the rare trait of exceptional endurance only exhibited by people with outstanding mental and physical stamina. The kind of people who break records in the most unlikely situations,” Eliud said.
Kipchoge also stated that Amina was the most suitable candidate to lead the World Trade Organization WTO if elected.
“It takes a champion to recognise another. I believe that Amina Mohamed is the best person suited to lead the World Trade Organisation at this time.”
“She is a kindred limitless spirit akin to the one that propelled me to venture into the world of invisible limits to set the unthinkable sub-2 marathon record broadening the sphere of long-distance running to new levels, now within human-reach,” he added.
“We may not know where the limits in the multilateral trading system are, but Minister Amina is willing to find them and help the WTO Membership, conquer them,”Kipchoge explained.
If elected Ambassador Amina will become the first African woman to lead the organization.
Kipchoge and other elite athletes jetted out of the country yesterday at night to London where he will be defending his record.
He will be facing stiff competition from Ethiopian Bekele who is also eyeing the championship.
The plane carrying a contingent more than 50 individuals from Kenya among them athletes, pace setters and officials left the country before midnight and made a stopover in Ethiopia where the other elite athletes joined them before proceeding to London.
