Egerton University is the oldest institution of higher learning in Kenya. Its is a fully chartered public university located in Njoro Nakuru county. The University was founded as a Farm School in 1939 by Lord Maurice Egerton of Tatton, a British national who settled in Kenya in the 1920s. In 1950, the School was upgraded to an Agricultural College offering diploma programmes.
The university offers both undergraduate and post graduate courses to both government and self sponsored students. All the course offered at Egerton University are accredited by the Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Services, KUCCPS.

To undertake any degree course at Egerton University, one is required to have attained a KCSE mean grade of C+ and above with C+ English or Kiswahili.
