DJ Khaled to host MTV Africa Music Award Kampala 2021.
Grammy award-winning-global sensation, DJ and record executive, DJ Khaled who is best known for his Hip hop and R&B hit anthems will be the international host for the upcoming MTV Africa Music Award Kampala 2021(MAMA).
The event which will be airing globally for the first time in 180 countries begins February 20th.
Khaled will host the virtual awards ceremony from his glamorous home in Miami, Florida, Alongside Africa co-emcees for the star-studded Kampala event.
“Africa is home to some of the world’s most dynamic talents and we’re excited to spotlight the artist as the MAMAs broadcast in 180 countries for the first time in MTV history, “said Bruce Gillmer The president of Music, Talent, Programming and events for Viacom CBS media network.
With Grammy Award –winning powerhouse DJ Khaled at the helm, they are certain this will be an incredible must-watch global event.
“MTV has always been a great partner so I jumped at the opportunity to host this year’s Mamas, “said DJ Khaled.
MAMA Kampala 2021 event will celebrate Africa talent across 20 awards categories, including Best Male, Best Female, Best song, and Best Collaboration.
The contribution of artists from Portuguese and French-speaking Africa will also be recognized in the Best Lusophone and BEST Francophone categories.
Additionally, new categories included are the MAMA Generation Change Award, Best Fan Base, Alone Together Best Lockdown Performance and Personality of the Year.
Kenyan artists are among those nominated in at the 2021 MAMA award, they include:
Khaligraph Jones- Best Hip Hop Category
Sauti Sol and Ethic Entrainment, both-Best Group Category
Nadia Mukami who will take it up against ; WCB’s Diamond Platinumz, Wizkid, Casper Nyovest,Naira Mailey, Shatta Wale, A Reege and Fally Ipupa for the Best-Fan Base Award.
Elsa Majimbo features in the Personality of the Year Category. Whereas Matata will battle for the Best Alternative Act Song.
Sixteen categories of the awards have been announced so far and the voting is now open at www.mtvmama.com, and affiliate Twitter, Facebook and Instagram account.
Voting in all categories closes on 31st January 2021.
