Bridge assures parents of pupils’ safety as schools reopen

Bridge International Academies has assured parents and guardians of their children’s safety in their schools. Kenyan schools reopened on Monday after being closed since March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Bridge Kenya Managing Director Reuben Wambugu guaranteed to parents that they have put in place full health measures as directed by the government for the reopening of schools.
“We have worked hard to make sure that we reopen strong and ensure a safe return to our schools. The health, safety, and well-being of our pupils, staff, and families is top of mind. We are committed to following government guidelines and ensuring that
we are a good partner for everyone in our community,” said Wambugu.
Wambugu said that the organization is devoted to being a caring community where all pupils are supported and cared for. Teachers have been trained to maintain a safe learning and teaching environment where all pupils have an equal opportunity to reach their highest potential.
Since schools closed in March 2020, Bridge said they have been committed to ensuring all pupils and families have the learning resources and support they need.
The organization that runs a network of academies across the country provided learning materials to all pupils for free.
With schools reopening for in-person learning, Bridge said they will continue providing the free at home learning resources for use outside of the school hours to complement learning.
At their schools’ premises, they have put several public health signs and procured sufficient hand washing materials for their learners and staff.
“We have also ensured that all our schools have partnered with the nearest public health facility in the community, and their details captured on the school’s information poster that is displayed publicly for all to see within the school premises,” added Wambugu.
On arrival, all the staff and pupils are expected to undergo temperature screening while the desks have been rearranged for social distancing.
