TSC Announces Plan To Confirm 26,000 Intern Teachers and Hire 20,000 More Intern Teachers

The teachers service commission has announced plans to confirm 26,000 Intern Teachers and Hire 20,000 more Intern Teachers. The Chairman of the National Assembly Budget and Appropriation Committee Hon Ndindi Nyoro disclosed that in the 2024–2025 financial year, 26,000 intern teachers would be absorbed under permanent and pensionable terms.

The government, through the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), intends to recruit an additional 20,000 intern teachers in the upcoming financial year.

According to Nyoro, the National Assembly has earmarked Sh26.3 billion for the financial year to facilitate the recruitment of new interns and the confirmation of existing intern teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.

He underscored the Kenya Kwanza government’s dedication to alleviating the teacher shortage in all public primary and secondary schools, referencing the 100 percent transition policy.

Nyoro reiterated President William Ruto’s pledge to grant permanent and pensionable employment to all 26,000 current intern teachers.

He announced that TSC intends to hire an extra 20,000 interns in the forthcoming financial year. Nyoro further guaranteed that no region would encounter discrimination concerning employment and development based on voting patterns from the last general elections.

He committed to evenly distributing development projects nationwide under President Ruto’s leadership, irrespective of the electoral results from the 2022 polls.
