Oscar Sudi Hints At Forming New Party, Terms Jubilee As a Paper
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has hinted a possibility of leaving the Jubilee party and forming a new one should the efforts to bring together warring factions fail.
In one of the clearest indications that Deputy President William Ruto and his allies are on their way out of Jubilee party, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has spoken of a new political party in the offing.
He also noted that the Deputy President William Ruto was not obligated to run on a Jubilee ticket come2022.
Sudi was airing his utterances at his Eldoret home where he hosted more than 60 MCAs from Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Trans Nzoia counties “for lunch”. They also discussed matters affecting the region.
Sudi claimed that Covid-19 has been politicised to bar Ruto’s supporters from congregating.
“Niliskia Rais akisema tupigane na ufisadi kwa njia ya haki.Amekua akishurutisha watoto wa watu wengine ambao hawana hatia na vile sakata ya korona imeandama familia yake anaanza kuongelea “haki”.Yule nduguye pia anasema tufanye “special audit”. Sisi sio wakumbafu wao” he stated
The MP who is an ardent supporter of DP Ruto said that they are ready to go wherever Ruto will direct them.
“Jubilee is just a political party on paper. Our party is William Ruto and William Ruto is our party (sic). It is not a must we use Jubilee Party to run for elective seats [in the next general election]. We shall form a new party and put it on paper the way we did with Jubilee,” the lawmaker said.
“You shouldn’t be worried about the political party that we’ll use to run for elective seats on in 2022. That is a small issue.”
He urged DP Ruto’s supporters not to be worried, stating that a concrete plan is in place to ensure in case of any eventuality.
His remarks come barely two days after DP Ruto confirmed that leaving Jubilee is part of the options available should peace come to shove.
“If Jubilee is hijacked by the brokers, then, as they say, the breaking of a cooking stick should not be the end of cooking,” he told Citizen TV.
He said he will take necessary measures should things get out of hand as they did during his time in ODM party.
“I was in ODM, but when some people became dictatorial and could not accommodate our views, we left the party for another one,” he said.
Murathe who was accused by the DP as the thorn in Jubilee party has on his part dared the DP to leave the party.
“Mambo bado, hii ni kionjo tu. You wait, atajua hajui (The game has yet to start, what you have seen is only a test run. We’ll prove to him that he’s not as smart as he thinks),” Murathe fired back.
Ruto blasted the party’s national vice chairman David Murathe for trying to elbow him out of the party.
