Daystar University is a Christ-centred non-denominational private institution of higher learning which exists to equip Christian servant leaders for the transformation of church and society. The university admits both government sponsored and self sponsored students. Daystar’s original campus is close to Nairobi city centre, but there was no room to expand at that location. In 1992 a new campus was built at Athi River, some 40 km to the south-east of the  Nairobi city, on the Mombasa Road which became the main campus. In 1994 Daystar was granted a Charter by the Government of Kenya and became Daystar University.

Daystar University offers both Certificate, Diploma, Higher Diploma, Degree, Masters and PhD programs in various fields. Most university degree courses take a minimum of 4 years; while, some take even more. However, diploma courses at the university take an average of 3 years. The university has E-learning courses that allows students to learn online. In total, the university offers over 75 programs.

Daystar University Intake and Admission Requirements

To undertake any degree course at Daystar University, one is required to have attained a KCSE mean grade of C+ and above with C+ English or Kiswahili. You will also need to have attained at least C+ in subjects related to your field of studies. Certificate and Diploma courses have less qualification requirement by the university.

Daystar University has three intakes in an Academic year. Main intakes being in August/September, December/January and May intake for all the courses.
