How Long Does KDF Training Take And Where Does It Take Place

Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) usually carry out trainings for new recruits each year at the Kenya’s training school located at the Moi Barracks in Eldoret, Rift Valley.

It takes a period of 6 months for new recruits to be trained before they can pass out and be deployed in various army barracks across the country. However in some cases the training may take up to 3 years depending on the course and specialty of individual trainees.

The training usually involves attending classes and performing various physical activities. There are various stages involved in during the training and one advances progressively at each stage until they complete.

After recruitment, individual trainees go through orientation classes to understand the nature of the training and the outcome expected from each trainee.

The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) recruits Army, Air force and Navy officers who undergo the general training at Moi barracks in Eldoret for a period of 6 months before they are deployed to their specific forces for further training. All this happens when they are already on the payroll of the Government of Kenya.

Where Does KDF Training Take Place?

KDF training takes place at Moi Barracks in Eldoret. Here all KDF recruits are taken in for a peroid of 6 months before they can be deployed. The pass out ceremony is usually graced by the president and family members of the recruits are usually invited.

Moi baracks is located in Eldoret on your way to Soy or Kitale route. To get to Moi barracks, alight at Maili Tisa then head towards Kitale. Moi baracks is a few kilometers from Maili Tisa just before you get to Soy. For those coming from Kitale, Moi Baracks is a few kilometers from Soy just before getting to Maili Tisa.

All new KDF recruits are required to present their calling letter together with prescribed requirements before they can be admitted into the training college.
