CS Magoha Responds To Community Learning Confusion Allegations

Following the announcement by the Ministry of education to launch the Community Learning Program a number of issues have a risen that have forced Education CS  George Magoha to address.
The program which is aimed at engaging teachers to offer learning services in their community has received various criticism and confusion among parent s ant teachers.
Some parents are reluctant to enroll their children in the program sighting risks of their children contracting Covid-19 virus.
“I am hearing a lot of issues regarding the program. If you live in a gated area that has 30 children and there is one teacher there, why are you saying you need PPEs? If you don’t want to teach the children then don’t. The children belong to you,” Magoha ranted.

He stated that the program is aimed at engaging students stuck at home during this Coronavirus epidemic period.

On the school reopening dilemma, Magoha insisted that schools will only reopen after an agreeable advice between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of education is reached. He insisted that the current stand of schools reopening stands as he had stated and that there was no confusion.
“We said schools are closed until January, but since we did not know the behavior of the virus, we’re ready to sit down and change our minds. Is that what people call confusion? Can you read the dictionary and find out what confusion is?” Magoha siaid.
The education CS also revealed that the government reversed the decision to pay the BOM teachers a day before the payment day. The CS stated that the decision was to safeguard the funds and avoid any losses as the correct procedures had not been followed.
The CS had earlier on ruled out the reopening of institutions of higher learning next month. He said there was no indication that institutions had met the minimum requirements to warrant reopening. The current rise in the Covid-19 cases remains the major impediment to school reopening.
