Safaricom and KCB Bank pumps million in Safari Rally Sponsorship

Safari Rally is here and the event has attracted a number of sponsorship from various cooperates among them Safaricom and KCB bank.
KCB committed a total of  KShs.100 million in sponsorship towards the 2021 WRC Safari Rally Kenya which returns to Kenya and Africa after a long 19-year absence.
“Our involvement has been drawn for a number of years and I must say we are happy to continue with this exciting journey. Our ambition is to progress the Federation in building the high level of commitment and indeed the level of global rally events through the Safari. We are confident that the Ksh. 100million support for the Safari this year will enable the country to host a safe and successful Safari.” Safari CEO and KMSF Chairman Phineas has continued to extol the Bank for it’s continued support which made Kenya’s national series (KNRC) the best in Africa visavis events leading to the successful WRC candidature of Safari.

On the other hand Safaricom announced a KES 17.5 million sponsorship for the Safari Rally as the event makes its return to the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar.
The sponsorship included KES 15 million which will go towards supporting three young Kenyan drivers selected as part of the FIA Rally Star programme. This is a global initiative aimed at identifying, training and developing talented young drivers between 17-26 years
“We have always believed in supporting the youth by giving them a platform to showcase their talent and to excel, whether this is through sports, music or the arts. The FIA programme allows us to support the WRC Safari Rally while also pursuing our passion point of empowering youth. The 3 young Kenyan drivers we’ll be supporting have the potential to become the next big stars and with the Safari Rally now back on the WRC calendar, they get to showcase their talents on an international stage”, said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom.

58 rally drivers among them 34 Kenyan racers are set to participate in this year’s Safari Rally which will take place from 24th to 27th June.
Apart from the two giant companies, Betika, Kabras and many others have thrown their weight in the event by offering sponsorships.
