President Uhuru Appoints a new Education PS
The ministry of education has received a New Principal Secretary after President Uhuru appointed Prof Fatuma Chege to the PS position.
Members of Parliament are now set to vet President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nominee for Principal Secretary, State Department for Implementation of Curriculum reforms Prof Fatuma Chege.
National speaker Justin Muturi made the announcement to the Parliament on the appointment of the new PS that was made on Tuesday 23th.
“I wish to report to the House that I have received a message from His Excellency the President conveying his nomination of Prof. Fatuma Nyaguthii Chege for appointment as a Principal Secretary in the newly created State Department for Implementation of Curriculum Reforms under the Ministry of Education,” speaker Muturi stated
“His Excellency the President, having exercised his powers under Article 155(3)(a) of the Constitution, is now seeking the approval of the National Assembly on the appointment of Prof. Fatuma Chege as a Principal Secretary for the aforementioned State Department,” he added.
Prof Chege led the taskforce on the transition from the 8-4-4 to the 2-6-3-3 education system.

Before her appointment, Prof Fatuma was teaching Philosophy and Sociology of Education; Educational Research Methods and Gender and Education.
Prof Fatuma also has considerable experience in multi-disciplinary and participatory research in Sub-Sahara Africa.
Her appointment comes a few weeks after President Uhuru made major changes in education ministry that saw Dr Julius Jwan appointed the new Principal Secretary for Early Learning and Basic Education. Dr. Jwan replaced Dr. Belio Kipsang.
