Farida Wambui heads to court as more details emerge on Daddy Owen’s broken marriage
More details continues to emerge following the news of an ended marriage between Farida Wambui and gospel singer Daddy Owen.
In the latest turn of events, reports indicate that Owen and Wambui are currently in a legal tussle in which Farida demanded that he pulls down her pictures and those of their children from his social media pages.
In an interview with The Standard early this week, Daddy Owen revealed that his troubled marriage drove him into depression and he could lock himself in the house and cry. The Vanity hitmaker went on to state that even his creative process was adversely affected and he stopped writing and releasing songs since nothing in life made sense to him.
At one point Daddy Owen relocated to Eldoret where he stayed with Eldoret based gospel singer Ole Willy for a while before returning to Nairobi.
“I stopped writing and releasing songs, as my creativity wasn’t working. I could not pray, as I felt weak inside. I contemplated doing everything wrong, even death.
While speaking to Jalang’o on Jalango TV show. Owen revealed that for years he had been unwell and he went to various hospitals for checkup only to be told there was nothing wrong with his body.
It was during one incident that the doctor advised him to see a Psychologist.
He revealed that he went from one Psychologist to another and they all told him something was eating him up and that he was undergoing depression, a fact that he kept on denying.
“I lived in denial and I would say No way, I am not suffering from depression. It cannot be. So I kept on changing Psychologists. It was until I accepted the fact that I was suffering from depression that I started the treatment journey” Daddy Owen revealed.
On Break up and Divorce
Appearing to admit he has lost his marriage of 8 years, Daddy stated that the truth is all out there and cannot deny it. Only that he will not tarnish her name.
“When the story came out, I was like…oh! I wouldn’t be the person to confirm it after all. But the fact is that whether I talk about it or not, the truth will eventually come out. I wouldn’t be the one to come out and tarnish her name and if I wanted to discuss our family issues, I would have done that a long time ago. The truth is out there. It’s hard to fight it. I wish her all the best,” said Owen.

Daddy Owen also admitted that before his wife walked out they had been in disagreement but all that he says were normal family issues.
“We have been discussing our issues as a couple and consulting when things don’t go right. We haven’t been agreeing on everything and that is human. He added
“However, when one wrong leads to another, you really have to get concerned and start thinking hard. When it came to that, I fell into depression and could lock myself in the house and cry, asking God why this was going on.” He stated
He revealed that he had been writing a book that was meant to be released on his 40th birthday this year but all that has been put on hold.
Before his marriage turned south, Daddy Owen and Farida had 2 children together.
