68 Students From Bahati Girls Nakuru Tests Positive For Covid-19
At least 68 students from Bahati secondary school in Nakuru have tested positive for Coronavirus. This was confirmed by Nakuru County Health CEC Karuiki Gichuki through a press statement released on Thursday, November 5,2020.
Teachers were also tested and 5 teachers returned a positive results.
The positive patients were immediately placed under mandatory isolation and additionally 115 students were placed under quarantine as the contact tracing was initiated.
Of the 68, one student had developed some complications and is being treated at Nakuru PGH Covid-19 isolation and management Centre.
“One student who tested positive for Covid-19 developed some complications and is being attended to at the Nakuru PGH Covid-19 Isolation and Management Centre.” Gichuki said
“A medical team is monitoring the condition of the students and teachers in isolation and quarantine at the school,” Gichuki stated.
Nakuru has seen a spike in Covid-19 cases in the recent days.
Schools across the counties continue to face challenges as some have been forced to shut after a spike of Covid-19 cases among learners and teachers.
With the latest being Bahati girls, other schools that have been hit with Covid-19 cases include; Kolanya Boys High School in Busia County, Voi Primary School (Taita Taveta), Friends School Kamusinga and Kimilili Boys High School both in Webuye.
In a public address to the Nation on Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that schools will resume normal learning in January 2021.
