DP Ruto Police Officers In Sudi Escape Saga Demoted

Officers who were involved in the escape plan to avoid arrest of Kapseret MP. Oscar Sudi have been demoted and moved to Junior positions.
According to a report published by The standard, Three police guards attached to Deputy President William Ruto have been transferred and removed from the elite Presidential Escort Unit over their role in the escape of Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi from his house. This happened on September 11 when police raided Sudi’s home in Eldoret to arrest him.
Previously, the three officers were grilled over their role in the dramatic arrest of Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi after they were found at his home in the morning of his arrest.

The officers – a chief inspector and two constables – were attached to the Presidential Escort Unit, which guards the president, his deputy, and their families. Officials aware of the developments said the three had first been given show-cause letters before a decision to transfer them was made. One of them was moved to Homa Bay, another to Mandera, and the third one to Bondo.
The report further indicates that the demoted officers have been moved to general duties and their replacement to the DP have since been made.
Las week the three were summoned to the police HQ for grilling and were given a day to respond to their accusation.
The three were asked to explain why and how they were in Sudi’s compound on 11 September when team officers arrived to arrest Sudi.

It is reported that the officers in question had escorted the deputy president to his home and later joined Sudi at his home where they helped him escape.
For most of the hours, Sudi could not be traced when officers went to his home to arrest him, it would later emerge that some officers attached to the presidential escort team had sneaked him out to unknown location.
During the dramatic arrest of MP Sudi, it is believed the Chief Inspector escaped, leaving behind his firearm which was later recovered by officers who conducted the raid at the MP’s home.
Earlier, police headquarters had said Constables Isaack Dida and Simon Siengo would be charged with obstructing police officers on duty.
Following the reshuffle, over 100 officers attached to Kilimani Police Division in Nairobi have also been moved to different stations.
