MP Johanna Ng’eno  Expelled From Party And His Seat To Be Declared Vacant

The Kenya African National Union (KANU) on Tuesday announced it had resolved to expel Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng’eno over his remarks against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family that touched on the former first lagy Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat stated that the MP has caused shame to the party by engaging in unlawful conduct which portrays an independent party in a wrong way.
“His conduct has been unbecoming and in contravention of the leadership and Integrity Act. We are therefore parting ways and we are giving an opportunity to seek a fresh mandate from the people of Emurua Dikir from any other party.”Salat Stated
Salat would later apologize on behalf of the party and affirmed that the party was going to crack the whip.
“On behalf of the party, we apologize to the people and the offices he demeaned with his remarks. We are also ready to go back to the people of Emurua Dikir and ask for forgiveness for having sponsored him,” Salat said.
The Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat said they expected Ng’eno to resign his seat voluntarily failure to which they will petition National Assembly Justin Muturi to declare his seat vacant.
“He should never call himself a member of Kanu again. He has the option of resigning from Parliament failure to which we will go for our ticket,” he added.
The MP was on Monday evening arrested at Dikirr in Transmara moments after he was captured in a video that went viral online lashing out at President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ng’eno in the video accused Uhuru of allegedly undermining his Deputy William Ruto.
A contingent of police officers from Dikirr Police Station including GSU officers from a nearby camp stormed his Mogondo residence at around 4pm on Tuesday and surrounded his home.
The outspoken legislator had on Sunday while attending a function at Murkan in Transmara told President Kenyatta to be prepared to leave office in 2022 once his term ends and that the President should not dictate as to who should succeed him but instead leave it to Kenyans to decide for themselves.
According to the registrar of political parties law, once an MP is expelled from a party that sponsored them to Parliament, the communication shall be passed on to the Registrar of Political Parties to update the party register.
Once the name has been deleted, the Register writes to the relevant speaker who shall then declare the seat vacant.
The IEBC then has 90 days to organize a by-election.
